Born and raised in a traditional weaver's family in Banaras (Varanasi), Ishrat grew up surrounded by the artistry of handwoven Banarasi textiles. She completed her education at Banaras Hindu University before moving to Mumbai after marriage, but her roots have always remained firmly connected to the city and its artisans.
Coming from a weaving family, she witnessed the challenges faced by the artisans who keep it alive. As machine-made imitations became more common and many weaving families struggled to sustain their livelihoods, she felt a responsibility to help preserve this remarkable heritage.
That vision became inayatbyishrat—a brand dedicated to bringing authentic Banarasi craftsmanship directly from the weavers to customers with complete transparency and fair pricing. Every collection reflects her belief that tradition should be celebrated, craftsmanship should be respected, and customers deserve to know exactly what they are buying.
